Sixth Form Open Evening 2026

Tuesday 20th October from 6.00 – 8.00pm.  Students and parents will have the opportunity to listen to a presentation by the Director of Sixth Form and then talk to subject staff and students with any questions they might have in their chosen subjects.  There will be 2 presentations; 1 at 6.00pm and then this will be repeated at 7.15pm. New students to Kesgrave can book a place here.

How to Apply

Kesgrave Year 11 Pupils – It is essential that you discuss your subject choices fully with teachers and parents. Further details of the content of courses may be obtained from the appropriate Head of Department. You will be given dedicated PSHE time to address concerns about subject choices and future pathways. There are also opportunities to speak to a member of the sixth form management team. Applications should be made electronically this year through Applicaa Online.  All students will receive an email to their school email account with their own link to get onto Applicaa Online to start their application.

New Applicants – Students who join Kesgrave from other schools are full and equal members of the Sixth Form. The sixth form prospectus is available HERE. Applications should be made electronically this year through Applicaa Online.  A link will appear here on Wednesday 21st October to enable them to start their application.

We will consider applications from all students who apply by this date. Any applications received after this date will be placed on a reserve list.

Interviews

Interviewing For KHS students, this will take place either Tuesday 26th January or Tuesday 2nd February or Thursday 11th February 2027. You will be interviewed with your parents or guardians and will need to provide a Personal Profile, which will be worked on during PSHEE. Interviewing for New Applicants, interviews will happen in March 2026. Again we ask that you are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Interviews will take place out of school hours.

(Interviews are not conducted for selection purposes, but are intended to allow for consultation regarding applicants’ suitability for proposed courses)

Tours and Inductions

Sixth Form Tour – Tuesday 24th November 2026 – from 2.00-2.45pm.  This is an opportunity to see the Sixth Form in action.  Students and parents will be taken on a tour of the school where Sixth Form lessons take place, together with a look at the study spaces, the Theatre and the Sixth Form café.  There will be a chance to speak to the Director of Sixth Form at the end of the afternoon with any questions you may have.  This event is open to all – but students will need to book a place here:  Sixth Form Tour – book your place here.  This event is for students who were unable to attend the Sixth Form Open Evening.

Post 16 Taster Day – Friday 4th December – from 8.50am-3.20pm.  This event is for students ONLY.  It is their opportunity to trial Level 3 subjects; A Level, BTEC and AAQ.  Students can attend for a whole day / or part of a day.  This event gives students the opportunity to get a feel for Kesgrave Sixth Form and to sample 3 lessons of their choice.  This event is open to all – but students will need to book a place here:   Post-16 Taster Day – book your place here.  Once they have booked a place, they will be sent a link to choose their 2 or 3 subjects.  Please don’t worry if you don’t receive this until November.  Students will need to remember to obtain permission from their current school to attend this event.

Sixth Form Open Morning – Wednesday 20th January 2027 – from 10.00-11.30am.  Students and parents will have the opportunity to have a tour of the school, listen to a presentation by the Director of Sixth Form and then have refreshments with Heads of Subject – this is an opportunity to ask any subject-specific questions you might have.  This event is for students who were unable to attend the Sixth Form Open Evening or the Sixth Form Tour.  Student will need to book a place here:  Sixth Form Open Morning – book your place here

Induction Day – Thursday 1st July 2027. The day offers an opportunity to meet other members of the year group. You will take part in a team building activity and will familiarise yourself with courses and demands.

Registration/Enrolment – Thursday 19th August 2027 (Results Day). This is when you will collect your results and enrol into the Sixth Form. It is a final opportunity to confirm or change your subject choices.

Courses Begin – Friday 3rd September 2027.
