Summer Term 2022

April 24, 2022 6:34 pm

We are looking forward to seeing students back after the Easter break. Over the next term we have so much to do and so much to look forward to.

Of course, Year 11 and Year 13 enter their final weeks of preparation for their external examinations. These start in earnest in the middle of May, only a few weeks away. We know that students have been working hard, attending revision sessions in the holiday and conducting their own revision programme at home too. This cohort of students have shown such resilience and determination over the last two years, we know that they will be rise to the challenge of the next few weeks, to achieve results of which they can be proud. Year 11 will finish their last day of lessons on Friday 27 May and Year 13 the week before, Friday 20 May. Both will have a leavers assembly prior to departure, taking a moment to reflect on their time in at Kesgrave High School. We are looking forward to some shared memories during this and both their Prom events later in the summer.

When students return this week they will find a new canopy area for outside shelter and we are close to opening our new Sixth Form cafe, The Foyer, all part of our commitment to a school site that offers an environment that befits our expectations. On the less glamorous side of things, we have nearly completed works re-roofing the whole of the technology block and our window replacement continues, with the much needed uplift on the hall windows as part of the works in the summer programme.

Year 10 students also return with examinations on the horizon. They will be conducting their Year 10 Mock Examinations from Tuesday 3 May. These are an important stepping stone, to experience the feel and breadth of an examination series. We know how well students were preparing before the Easter break and what value they will be able to take from the feedback that they gain from these milestones.

Of course, it isn’t all hard work and examinations. We are looking forward to an array of summer clubs, trips and visits. Community events like Sports Day, Activities Week, Work Experience and more are all very much in the final planning stages.
