Last week Year 13 and Year 11 student both received their A Level, BTEC and GCSE results. It was wonderful to see the students once more and to share in their delight as they received their grades. Students have learnt more than ever before from their last two years of academic study. Having lived and learnt through two lockdowns during their studies, they have shown resilience and the dedication like no other school years before them.

Whilst the process of awarding grades this year was unique, these results are no less well-deserved, nor the students delight in their receipt no less heartfelt. These results reflect the hard work and dedication of the students and their teachers. As they move on to the next stage of their pathway, be that university, apprenticeships or work for our Year 13 or our Sixth Form, apprenticeships or college for our Year 11, we know that these students will continue to make a positive contribution to the communities around them, through their commitment and compassion.

We were delighted that grades awarded in Year 13 were:

88% of grades were A*-C and 99.8% of results A*-E Grade, or equivalent.

In Year 11

80% of students achieved Grade 4 or better in English and Mathematics

57% of students achieved Grade 5 or better in English and Mathematics

33% of all grades achieved were Grade 7 or above

The academic year will resume for Year 7, 11 and 13 on Friday 3 September. All other year groups will return to school on Monday 6 September. We will communicate to parents and carers the schedule for students completing an on-site Lateral Flow Test before their return at the end of next week. Year 7 will be given considerable support in this, it being their first time at the school and also in this process.
