Summer success and the start of a new year

September 5, 2022 9:55 am

We are delighted to welcome back students for the start of the new academic year today. After a wonderful summer, both in terms of the weather and indeed the success of our students in their academic results, we are excited for what the next generation of students can achieve.

Our new Year 7 enjoyed their liaison day in the summer term and we are expectation of an excellent new year group joining us. The transition to High School is an exciting one and we know that students are looking forward to the new opportunities that High School can offer.

Our departing Year 13 and Year 11 achieved the most incredible success in the summer. The context of the last two years has been a tough one for them, studying in lockdown and polishing their skills in readiness for the first external examinations for three years. Their hard work over the last two years most certainly paid off, with incredible results in both Year 13 and Year 11.

In Year 13

  • 76% of students achieved the threshold of Grade C or better
  • 26% of students achieved Grade A* or A

In Year 11

  • 79% of students achieved the threshold of Grade 4 or better in Mathematics and English
  • 59% of students achieved Grade 5 or better
  • 26% of grades were Grade 7-9

We can’t wait to see what the year ahead will bring and are so pleased to see students back at school today, smiling and eager to start the next step on their journey.
