Santa run and charity work lead us into the Christmas break

December 13, 2021 9:27 am

This week Year 9 students will be delivering the boxes of resources gathered across our school community to the central food bank in Ipswich, ready for distribution to homes around the locality. Year 9 have led our school magnificently, sharing the work of the Love Ipswich charity and organising donations across the school for food parcels for families in need at Christmas. It looks like we might exceed our target of 50 parcels, as donations continue to come in before the deadline on Tuesday. Thanks to our Year 9 student leaders and staff for leading us all.

On Friday we hold our annual tradition before the end of term, our Santa Run. Students and staff will enjoy the fresh air on Friday afternoon, lifting our energy levels before the end of term. Christmas dressing up isn’t essential, but there are plenty who do get into the spirit of the event.

On the sporting theme, our Sixth Form Committee have also launched their charity goal to run a marathon in three months. Kicking this off at the Santa Run to get a mile under their belt, all members of the school community can take part, with sponsor forms posted on Firefly for all students to access. Last year there was a wonderful response to this from students. There will be a £50 voucher for the student who raises the most funds from their efforts.

Finally, we wish a happy and peaceful Christmas to all members of our community.
