Proud and Preparing

May 10, 2021 3:53 pm

This week our Year 11 students will receive their Leavers’ Hoody, the first tangible sign that they are reaching the end of their main schooling with us. Whilst many of this wonderful year group will be staying with us into the Sixth Form, friendships will change, as some head onto college or apprenticeships, so these last few weeks will always have a poignancy of a moment in time for them. Tomorrow students in Year 11 will take part in their Proud assembly. This is where each student receives a letter from their parent or carer detailing how they pride in them as young people. As you can image this is a powerful, emotional moment for students as they reach the end of this phase of their educational journey.

This week we will be sending home a revision plan for Year 10 and 12 students, to support their preparation for Mock Examinations after half-term. These examinations are very much a stage in learning and not an end point. We want students to be able to develop good revision habits and learn what works for them. Our aim is to demystify the process of revision and ensure that we are explicit with students what they can do to prepare for longer, more synoptic assessments.

Meanwhile, we are gradually starting more extra-curricular opportunities, staying outside wherever possible, remaining in our COVID bubbles and providing some of those rich experiences that form such an important part of school life. It feels like we are gradually bring the life back to school, as we go into this summer term.
