Induction for Year 6 and Year 12

June 27, 2021 11:29 am

This week we meet for the second time, a small group of students from Year 6 who are joining us in a series of future visits to help them to prepare for September. In activities such as PE, Music and Computing, students will meet staff, get to know the school and take part in activities which build communication and confidence before their September start. These visits preclude the Transition Day for all Year 6 students joining us in September on Monday 12 July. This week we hope to share our staff recordings (a hark back to Jackanory for those of a certain age) of “The boy who made everyone laugh” by Helen Rutter, as Year 6 students read this at their current schools and in their leisure, in readiness of their arrival.

On Monday future Year 12 students join us for a two-week induction into the Sixth Form. They will embark on their chosen course as well as experiencing workshops such as academic writing, university choices, independent study skills and team building.

Meanwhile, preparations for Sports Day on Wednesday 15 July are well underway. With the excitement building students are looking forward to this whole-school inclusive day of sport, as well as the competitive elements of the day; our Victrix and Victor Ludorum looks to be hotly contested once more.

We are delighted to have made some exceptional teaching staff appointments for September 2021. We will be saying farewell to a handful of staff who leave us for promotion and moving out of the area. We are currently advertising for staff to supplement our support staff team. The first a further Student Support Officer, to add to our pastoral team and also Teaching Assistants and Graduate Interns, to join our Learning Support Team. Kesgrave High School is a great place to work and we seek to add to our dedicated team. All details are on our staff vacancies page on our website. https://www.kesgrave.suffolk.sch.uk/join-us/staff-vacancies/
