Heading into DecemberNovember 29, 2020 5:51 pm
Monday 30 November
I can’t quite believe that we are heading into December this week. Talk of Christmas, even in a different way to normal, I hope can bring some cheer to some challenging times that we have all faced.
This week, Year 11 students complete their Mock Examinations, with two final days ahead of them. Their approach to the examinations has been exemplary, entering into the examinations with a sense of determination and resilience. This stage is part of the learning journey, not the final hurdle, and I know that they will have gained a great deal from the experience. Of course, at this time in their education students are also thinking about what comes next (although hopefully not so much that they forget that it is this stage that will get them there). On Monday 14 December, Year 11 students will consider their pathways in more detail, as those interested in Level 3 study experience a taster day in the Sixth Form. Do look at our subject “interviews” with staff and students, where they outline what each subject entails. Each video lasts 3-5 minutes and gives a brief outline of the course.
Next week, Year 8 parents and carers will be invited to their Virtual Parents’ Evening. This worked well for Year 13 last week and we will share details of how this will work with Year 8 parents and carers this week.
As we think of Christmas, we are also looking at how we can support those less fortunate. School Council have chosen to support FIND, a local charity which supports homes across our local area. More details will be shared with students about how they can help others in the week ahead.
