A wonderful start, extra-curricular activities and Year 10 Information EveningSeptember 12, 2021 9:53 am
After the first full week back at school for all students we are so pleased to be back to some form of normal. We are acutely aware of the need for caution with regard to the COVID pandemic, but it has been so good to see all students accessing the full breadth of facilities at school. It has been a pleasure to see students use the Food Technology rooms, to conduct science experiments in labs and to gather as a community in assemblies, to name just a few. In Key Stage 3 Year 7 students have made a fantastic first impression, our Year 8 have coped with accessing the whole site with controlled excitement and our Year have thrown themselves into all aspects of their curriculum, in the year where they choose their options. Year 10 and 11 have embarked on their first and second years of Key Stage 4 study with maturity; our Peer Mentors and prefects in these year groups have already displayed what wonderful ambassadors for the school they are. Finally, our Year 12, the largest cohort for some years, have thrown themselves into post-16 study.
This week we be sharing the extra-curricular programme with students, in the hope that they take the opportunities to get involved in all that Kesgrave High School have to offer. Staff are eager to bring this part of KHS life with gusto and we hope that students sign up in their droves.
On Thursday evening we will be meeting with Year 10 parents and carers to map out this important stage of their son or daughter’s school life. The evening starts at 6.30p.m., with refreshments available at 6.15p.m. We ask that all parents attending undertake a Lateral Flow Test beforehand, as a precautionary measure, and that only one parent or carer from each family attends to limit numbers.
