Kwik Cricket Tournament – 2011

On Friday 20th May, 10 teams from 7 Primary schools came to Kesgrave High School for a superb, fun filled and entertaining afternoon of Kick Cricket. Apart from a little wind the conditions were perfect, parents and staff settled in for what proved to be a relaxing yet highly exciting atmosphere.

All teams showed great sportsmanship and teamwork, and the standard of cricket and tactics showed high levels of dedication and practice. Teams were made up of boys and girls who all had an equal contribution to the batting and bowling, and they played within a small pool to decide on Semi final and Final placing. After 2 hours of quality bowing, wickets falling, incredible catches, and accurate and powerful batting, Cedarwood and Bucklesham made the final.

Both teams played superbly, and it went down to the last over to decide, where Cedarwood managed to minimise Bucklesham’s run scoring enough to clinch the title. Huge thanks should go to Andrew Blanchard (from Suffolk Cricket) who oversaw the running of the whole event, and the Kesgrave high School leaders, who scored and encouraged each match. A fantastic spectacle, which we are looking forward to running again next summer.
