Getting into Kesgrave High School
InSeptember each Primary School will be distributing the 'Schools in Suffolk booklet (produced by the LEA, together with the CAF1 form (parental preference form) to all Year 6 pupils.
The deadline date for submission of this form to the LEA is 29th October 2010, the CAF1 form must be returned to your child's current school. The LEA (not the school) is responsible for admissions to the school and full details of the LEA's admissions policy and procedures are set out in the booklet.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT KESGRAVE HIGH SCHOOL IS A POPULAR AND OVER-SUBSCRIBED SCHOOL. IN ADDITION, FROM SEPTEMBER 2008 THE CATCHMENT AREA GUARANTEE HAS BEEN REMOVED BY THE LOCAL AUTHORITY FOR ALL PUPILS. THEREFORE, LIVING IN THE CATCHMENT AREA, OR ATTENDING A CATCHMENT AREA SCHOOL, NO LONGER PROVIDES ENTITLEMENT OF A PLACE AT THE SCHOOL.
For children in private education or moving to the area from outside the area, you should contact the LEA directly about admission.
Year 6 Induction
For many years now, there has been active liaison with our feeder schools and this year, in co-operation with the Primary School Headteachers, we have arranged for a number of induction activities for Year 6 children. All those pupils in a catchment area feeder school will visit the High School on a number of occasions throughout the year to take part in a variety of curriculum activities. This begins in late September when all youngsters attended for a full lesson and tour of the school; and culminates in July when they attend for a whole day and experience a normal day's timetable. This day will include all those admitted for the new academic year. We have found that these experiences serve as an excellent introduction to High School life and help make the transition from Primary School much easier.
Our Catchment Area
Kesgrave High School serves Kesgrave town, Martlesham, Martlesham Heath and the catchment areas of our Feeder Primary Schools (Beacon Hill, Birchwood, Bucklesham, Cedarwood, Gorseland, Heath, Little Bealings, Nacton and Waldringfield) and parts of Rushmere St Andrew.
If you live in Rushmere St Andrew, it is best to contact the school with an address to ask if your street is in the catchment area of Kesgrave High School. Telephone the school on (01473) 624855.
For children in private education or moving to the area from abroad, you should contact the LEA directly about admission, use the above link to Suffolk County Council's Webpage on Admissions to find out more.
